Network Topology Structure of Streamer BBU

The network topology of Streamer BBU plays a critical role in ensuring efficient communication and reliable data transfer. A common network topology for Streamer BBU is the star - based architecture. In this structure, the BBU serves as the central node, and multiple remote radio units (RRUs) are connected to it via dedicated communication links. Each RRU is responsible for handling the wireless communication in a specific geographical area. The advantage of this star - based topology is its simplicity and ease of management. If there is an issue with one of the RRUs, it does not affect the operation of other RRUs, as the connection between each RRU and the BBU is independent.

For large - scale deployments, a hierarchical network topology might be more suitable. In this case, multiple BBUs can be grouped together and connected to a higher - level aggregation node. This aggregation node can then be connected to the core network. This hierarchical structure helps in better traffic management and resource allocation. For example, the aggregation node can perform traffic aggregation and routing, ensuring that the data from different BBUs is efficiently directed to the appropriate destination in the core network. It also simplifies the network expansion process. When new areas need to be covered, additional BBUs can be easily added to the existing hierarchical structure without major reconfiguration of the entire network.

In some scenarios, a hybrid network topology that combines features of star and mesh topologies can be used. A partial mesh connection can be established between the BBUs themselves. This provides redundancy in case of a failure in the main connection to the aggregation node. If one of the links between a BBU and the aggregation node fails, the BBU can still communicate with the core network through the mesh - connected BBUs. This hybrid topology offers both the simplicity of the star - based structure for connecting to RRUs and the reliability of the mesh structure for BBU - to - BBU communication.
